Musica Nueva Malaga International Festival

The first concert of July 20^th featured soloists Emil Sein, Barrie Webb, Nika Shirocorad and myself as accompanist.

The Electro-Acoustic Concert of July 24^th featured the same soloists, plus additional players: Rafael Diaz (Clarinet), Salvator Valenzuela (flamenco guitar), a flamenco singer (I don’t have his name) and Csaba (last name ?) on the bass.

On Friday, July 25^th, we had invited to our apartment the composers and Barrie and Nika for a beach party in Nerja.

At the end of the party, instead of getting an extra taxi,we had to place Julia and Nika in the trunk of our car….

Last day, July 26th, we had an intensive rehearsal in very high temperatures, followed by an almost three hour concert !!!

The concert was a great success, with a full house attendance and with speeches from the vice-mayor and myself.

Hyun-Jung Shim introduced her piece, with Gustavo Parra translating. On the right, Julia introduces her mother’s – Olga Harris’s piece.

Barrie invited all the composers on stage for a final bow, at 1.30 AM …. On the picture on the left, from the left: Olga, Gustavo, our Romanian Concertmaister (I don’t have his name), Hyun-Jung, Orie Sato and Salvator Valenzuela.

A nice reception followed until 2.00 AM ……. On the last picture, from the left: Olga, Salvator, Julia, Barrie, Nika, Orie, myself, Hyun-Jung and Gustavo.

Last evening before departure we finally had time to visit the best place in town – BALCON DE EUROPA – the real “downtown of Nerja. Since the sunset comes around 9.35 PM, we had a little light before we went to dinner.
